Have you ever heard of Pantone Institute? It is an establishment started back in the 50s with the sole purpose of communicating color amidst various professions, from designers and architects to painters and corporate labels. After all my purple may be different from your purple since color is still very much based on perception and subjectivity.
Pantone put together a system of categorizing and naming colors in order to make professionals’ lives easier. It’s been an overarching color authority and a trend setter ever since.
Every year Pantone announces a new color that they think will be it for the coming year.
What excited me about this year’s pick – Ultra Violet – is that it’s a purple tone in a purple family and purple is absolutely my favorite color.
I thought I’d share with you some of the amazing psychological qualities of this color since it can truly be a healing addition to your home.
Purple is associated with royalty as much as passion, sensitivity, creativity and imagination. It is the color of galaxies, dreams and clouds during sunset. It has wonderfully relaxing and peaceful qualities and is widely used for these purposes in interior design and home decor.
It is also associated with feminine power and strong feminine energy, so all my sisters reading – purple is a color you need to tap into.
While reading up on purple I stumbled upon this passage that I absolutely loved:
The color violet inspires unconditional and selfless love, devoid of ego.
Violet encourages creative pursuits and seeks inspiration and originality through its creative endeavors. It likes to be unique, individual and independent, not one of the crowd. Artists, musicians, writers, poets and psychics are all inspired by violet and its magic and mystery.
Unconditional and selfless love – now that is something each and every one of us could use more of. First and foremost for yourself and your beautiful persona, and then, of course, to others.
Purple helps us shine from within, spreading the light of our love and healing energy into the world.
I will be wearing a bit more purple in the next few days to get inspired, to get grounded, to get creative. Stay tuned for the results of any upcoming creative endeavors. I’ll make sure to give purple the credit it deserves should it be one of the attributing factors to my photography or herbal wanderings.
